About
Dutch soprano Gabrielle Mouhlen is a Lirico Spinto with a versatile repertoire that include operatic roles as well as concert repertoire. Her powerful voice and warm, personal tone, combined with exeptional acting talent, make her a highly regarded artist on international stages.
Her most frequently sung roles are Norma, Abigaille (Nabucco), Tosca, Aida, Turandot, Lady MacBeth, Santuzza (Cavaleria Rusticana) and Minnie in La Fanciulla del West.
Her collaboration with the world-renowned conductor Riccardo Muti in 2021, who invited her to sing the role of Abigaille in Milan and at the Ravenna Festival, is one of her many highlights.
From 2018 to 2021 she was the soprano in the ensemble of the Aalto Musiktheater in Essen, Germany, where she sang leading roles in Aida, Tosca, Nabucco, Pique Dame, Otello, Don Carlo and I Pagliacci.
She was a guest at Opéra de Nice Côte d’Azur, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Opernhaus Dortmund. Staatstheater Nürnberg, Aalto Musiktheater Essen, Theater Koblenz, Domstufen Festival Erfurt, Theater Magdeburg, Teatro Reggio di torino, Teatro dal Verme Milano, Festival Luglio Trapanese, Festival di Pesaro, Puccini Festival Torre del Lago, Taormina Opera Festival, Teatro Verdi di Trieste, National Theater Brno Czech Republic, National Macedonian Theater Skopje, National Romanian Opera Timisoara, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, HNK National Croatian Opera Zagreb, Grand Théâtre de Genève and many others.

Absolute highlight in her career was the concert under the baton of Maestro Riccardo Muti in Milano. Here Gabrielle performed succesfully as Abigaille in Verdi’s Nabucco.

Turandot year
2026 has been declared the Turandot year.
Why? Because this famous and beloved opera by Giacamo Puccini was first conducted in the Scala in april 1926, a century ago.
The opera is set in China and follows the Prince Calaf, who falls in love with the cold-hearted Princess Turandot. In order to win her hand in marriage, a suitor must solve three riddles, with a wrong answer resulting in his execution. Calaf passes the test, but Turandot refuses to marry him. He offers her a way out: if she is able to guess his name before dawn the next day, he will accept death.
Gabrielle has performed the leading role of Princess Turandot many times with great succes. Examples are the opera performances at Taormina Opera Festival (top image) and in the Teatro Verdi di Triëste.
